Accessing a Probate Case in Riverside County

Before you begin: The court requires users to set up a free online account to view any case information, including the Register of Actions. Creating an account applies to anyone using the system, whether you’re accessing records for personal use or handling legal filings. Registration takes only a few minutes; all you need is an email address to create an account, and you can do so directly through the court’s case access portal. Once your account is active, you can move on to the search process.
Step 1: Visit the Riverside Superior Court’s Case Access Portal
To access Riverside County Superior Court’s online portal, scroll down on the homepage, and you will see an icon with a magnifying glass labeled “Search Court Records.” Select the icon. It will take you to the Riverside County court records online portal. You can also access the Riverside County court records online portal here.
Remember that accessing court documents through the Riverside County Superior Court requires creating an online account.
Step 2: Select a Search Method
Once on the case access page, you’ll see options for searching cases.
You can search by:
- Case Number: If you have the specific case number (which, for probate, typically begins with “PRR”), this is the fastest option.
- Party Name: Enter the full name of the decedent, executor, or another party involved in the case. You will have to pay a small fee for searching by name on the Riverside County Superior Court website.
Entering accurate information ensures you’ll receive the correct case results.
Step 3: Locate the Case in the Search Results
Once you’ve entered your case number and submitted the search, the system will display the case that matches your entry. Since case numbers in the Riverside County Court system are unique, a correct and complete number should return a single result.
Take a moment to double-check the information shown — confirm the case number, the names of the parties involved, and the filing date to ensure you’ve located the correct probate case.
Once you’ve verified the details, click the case number link to open the case summary page. From there, you’ll be able to access the Register of Actions and review the court’s record of filings, orders, and upcoming hearings.
Step 4: Access the Register of Actions
A case summary page will display a chronological list of all filings, court orders, and scheduled events associated with the case.
This list typically includes:
- Petitions filed
- Court rulings and orders
- Scheduled hearing dates
- Continuances and rescheduling
- Accounting and reports
- Filed objections or claims
Accessing the ROA lets you quickly track case activity. Remember: The Register of Actions lists filings and hearings but does not offer legal advice.
Step 5: Download Documents from the Register of Actions
If you need to review the actual filings in the case, you may be able to download documents directly through the Riverside County Superior Court system.
Once you are viewing the Register of Actions page, scroll down until you see a tab labeled “Documents.” This tab is usually located toward the bottom of the page. Select the Documents tab to view the list of filings that are available for download.
Within this section, you should see a button labeled “Document Download.” Clicking this button will direct you to a new page where the available filings are listed.
From there, you can select the documents you want and add them to your cart. The court typically charges a small fee to access and download these filings. After completing the payment process, you will be able to download the documents for your records.
Reviewing the full documents can provide additional detail about petitions, court orders, objections, and other activity in the probate case.
