These tasks are important because they help to keep the area safe and prevent any lawsuits involving the estate.

Steps to Protecting Real Estate during a California Trust Administration:

  1. If you live in a cool climate, have the house winterized.
  2. Properly secure the property to prevent trespassers.
  3. Remove any hazardous materials from the property.
  4. Fix any conditions at the property that create a safety hazard.
  5. Ensure that insurance policies on the property remain in effect during the San Diego probate administration.
  6. Make sure that electricity and gas are turned off in order to prevent any fires from occurring.
  7. Maintain the yard and general cleanliness of the home.
  8. Collect rent from tenants.
  9. Evict tenants who are violating the terms of the lease.
